My New Breed Family
Once upon a time I was a young, unmarried, and uneducated new mother. At that time I knew very little about how to be a good mother. The only thing I knew was that I loved my son and my son didn't ask to be born to someone in my situation. I vowed that I would do right by my child and live up to the privilege God has given me; the privilege of being Riley's mother.
Since that time in my life, I have graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and went on to get my Masters Degree in Social Work, also from The Ohio State University. (Go Bucks!) My career in social work centers around the subject I am most passionate about, children and families.
After six years as a single mother, I met the love of my life and got married. On August 22, 2009 I made a promise to John that I would love him and cherish him, for better or worse, 'til death do us part. And although I did not fully grasp this at the time, I made another promise on that day, a promise to be Khegan's stepmother - 'til death do us part.
Today, my life revolves around being a wife to John and being a mother to Riley, Khegan, and Micah. My days are long. My days are crazy. It is not easy to juggle a job, a husband, three children, and manage a household! Yet being a wife and a mother are the most important jobs I will ever have. There are some good days, some bad days, and some GREAT days!
This blog is meant to provide guidance and inspiration to you and to other New Breed Mothers as you traverse this long and winding road we call motherhood. Thank you for following me as I continue on my journey. Love hard, laugh often, and live passionately!
